Join Chagdud Khadro, the Spiritual Director of Chagdud Gonpa Brasil and wife of the late His Eminence Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, for a public talk on ‘Guidance on the Spiritual Path’ on Friday June 5th, 7pm, at the Open Secret Bookstore in San Rafael, CA.
If the Lord Shakyamuni Buddha himself said that Buddhas can only ‘point the way’ on the path but they cannot lead us directly, why do some people seek out teachers? What is the benefit of such a connection, and what are the challenges? Is a teacher always necessary, or do we need to understand other ways to develop our spiritual life and be of service to all? How do we balance taking responsibility for ourselves and our practice with the concept of ‘surrendering’ that is considered so important in some schools?
Chagdud Khadro was H.E. Chagdud Rinpoche’s devoted student for 23 years until his death in 2002, going from Asia to North America to Brazil with him, receiving constant training from him, both in organizing dharma activities and in the teaching and practice of Vajrayana. She herself was ordained as a lama in 1997, and since Rinpoche’s passing, Khadro has focused on maintaining the high calibre of Vajrayana training Rinpoche had established, continuing also her work with Padma Publishing and other editing and translation projects. In this talk she will share her reflections on the issue of what spiritual guidance can mean, based on her many years close to H.E. Chagdud Rinpoche, and seeing how he worked with her and countless others.
