Lama Dancing Practice

Lama Dancing Practice

Sundays after puja, from 11:45 am (other times by arrangement)

Lama-dancing practice takes place every Sunday after puja, and is open to all who have a genuine interest in learning about this form of meditation. No previous knowledge is required, and although it is wonderful if people become accomplished enough to perform the dances for drubchods or drubchens, even simply learning the dances creates positive interdependence with the practice and deepens one’s connection to these lineages. Children aged five upwards are also welcome, and there is a dance that is traditionally performed only by children which we incorporate into the drubchod here.

We are fortunate to have Vivian Sabbado in residence, who upheld the lama-dancing lineages in Brazil after receiving instruction from Lama Jigme and other teachers over the years. She has trained many practitioners in Brazil and in 2011 trained a group of dancers at PPI for their first four dances. Lama Jigme has been kind enough to spend several days working with PPI-Ati Ling dancers and refining Vivian’s knowledge in readiness for the various annual drubchods, and we look forward to welcoming him back for future practice sessions.
