Shakyamuni Buddha Practice for Saga Dawa

Shakyamuni Buddha Practice for Saga Dawa

The holy month of Saga Dawa, May 23rd to June 21st, is the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar. The first fifteen days are considered the most important, culminating with Saga Dawa Duchen on June 5th. This is when we commemorate the birth, death and enlightenment of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha.

The whole period of Saga Dawa is regarded as a multiplication time when the effects of virtuous and non-virtuous actions are greatly increased, so practitioners are encouraged to do whatever extra practice and good deeds they can. Ati Ling will be performing a life-saving ceremony during this holy month. If you would like to make an offering towards this ceremony please click here. (Offering deadline is March 31st).

Here is a Shakyamuni Buddha text composed by Mipham Rinpoche, which Tromge Jigme Rinpoche suggests people try to do as often as possible during this time. Thank you to Lotsawa House and all the translators over time who have made this text accessible:
